Sahara Twist Slip Dress (فستان الصحراء)

The whole dress turns on a single knot: velvet drawn in and twisted at the centre of the waist, where the deep V of the bodice meets the skirt. From that point the fabric releases outward in soft radiating folds and falls to the floor, so the pile catches light unevenly down the length — deeper in the gathers, brighter across the open panels.

The knot is the structural and visual centre of the dress, so anything belted or layered across the waist works against it — leave the line from shoulder to hem uninterrupted and let the twist hold the eye. A close, high neckline in metal sits above the V without crowding it.

Within Zellij Drift, this is the piece where the collection's interest in draped, flowing shapes is carried entirely by construction rather than surface pattern. The twist does here what print and texture do elsewhere in the collection.
